Minneapolis Star-Tribune until 1951.
After briefly running the circulation department of the Logansport Pharos-Tribune and the Logansport Press newspapers, he moved to Indianapolis, where he worked in the circulation department of the Indianapolis Star-News. He started there in 1951 and retired in 1987. He served first as a district manager, then as a supervisor of district managers, and then as the City Circulation Director.
After retiring, he and Vivian moved to Lafayette, where he worked for five years in the circulation department of the Lafayette Journal-Courier.
Ralph was an avid sports fan. He loved the Cubs and Purdue. He was quite a pool shark, having learned to play in the billiard parlor his father ran in Covington, and he loved laying dominoes, cards, board games, and Scrabble.
