Ralph Paul Nicholson Sr., 88, of Lafayette, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2012 in Franciscan St. Elizabeth East.
Ralph was born on March 14, 1924 in Soldiers Grove, WI to the late John William and Ella M. (Pokel) Nicholson. In 1942, he graduated from Withee High School in Withee, WI.
On July 17, 1944, he married Barbara June Scott in Lafayette. She preceded him in death on November 23, 2010.
Ralph served his country in the United States Navy during WWII. He was stationed stateside in Atlantic City.
Ralph worked for National Homes as an Electrician for over 20 years. He had previously worked for Public Service and Ross Gear.
He was a member of Brown St. United Methodist Church, VFW Post 1154, Janks and Play Euchre Club, and the Builders Club. Ralph loved to fish, garden, and go mushroom hunting.
Ralph is survived by his children, Ralph Nicholson, Jr. (wife: Karen S.) of Frankfort, John Nicholson (wife: Karen M.) of Clarks Hill, Ronald Nicholson (wife: Cari) of Lebanon, Terry Nicholson (wife: Debra) of Lafayette, and Judy Gipson (husband: John) of Clarks Hill; brothers, Lawrence Nicholson of Benson, AZ and Bueford Nicholson (wife: Jean) of Chippewa Falls, WI; and a sister, Caroline Adams of WI. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren, and 1 great great-grandson.
He was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna, Vivian Scott, Ella Soutener, and Ruth Weber; brothers, Charles Nicholson and Allen Nicholson; and granddaughter, Megan Ann Nicholson.
A Memorial Service will be held on Tuesday, December 4 at 1 p.m. at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel with Pastor Bruce Mowery officiating. Friends may call from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Tuesday at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel. Inurnment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens, West Lafayette.
