The Guest Book is expired.
Robert B. White, 73, of West Lafayette, passed away peacefully at 9:45 a.m. Wednesday, February 12, 2014 at Milner Community Healthcare in Rossville.
He was born March 5, 1940 in Elkmont, Alabama to the late Lehman and Gladys White.
His marriage was to Ruth Ann Sutton on April 28, 1978 in Christ Memorial Temple of Lafayette. She preceded him in death on June 25, 2013. The couple raised their family on a small farm South of Lafayette affectionately called "White Acres."
He was a member of Christ Memorial Temple for over 40 years and was active in the church Bus Ministry both driving and helping with repairs.
Mr. White was a Combination Technician for the city of Lafayette Waterworks Department for 21 years and drove a truck for LCL Transit in retirement.
Dad lived his life as an example of Christian Faith, always treating others with honesty and kindness. The joy of his life was his family, especially his grandchildren, Ceira, Brooklyn and Grant Michael and Kendra and Kaela. He had a soft heart for animals, especially the injured and enjoyed caring for them. He loved a good meal and spending time visiting with friends. He was the kind of person that was always helping others and in his spare time would fix small engines and mowers for people, usually for free. Dad taught us many lessons but the greatest of those was Love. He will be deeply missed.
Surviving are his children, Donald Keith White (wife: Candice Sue Drake) of Brookston, Holly Ann Erwin (husband: Frank) of Colfax, Ben White (wife: Linda) of Auburn, Kentucky, Rex White and April White both of Portland, Tennessee and several siblings.
Preceding him in death with his parents and wife are two of his siblings.
Friends may call from 5 p.m. until the time of funeral service at 7 p.m. Monday, February 17, 2014 at Christ Memorial Temple (3801 Union St., Lafayette, IN 47905); Pastor Jordan Parnell and Bishop Raymond E. Parnell to officiate. Graveside services to be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at the Brookston Cemetery.
Memorials may be made in his name to the Christ Memorial Temple.
