Robert "Bob" Stradling

Robert Edwin "Bob" Stradling, 72, of Crawfordsville, passed away at 12:15 p.m. Wednesday in Lafayette.
Mr. Stradling was a 1960 graduate of Southwestern High School. He served in the National Guard, worked for the state highway and was a NAPA deliveryman. He spent thirty years working as a school custodian at Linden, Pleasant Hill, and North Montgomery High School. He also served as Reserve Deputy in Linden, was with Civil Defense and EOC in Montgomery County. He liked his puppies, kittens, word puzzles, miniature horses and goats. Mostly, he is remembered as a jokester that never took himself seriously and liked to have a good time.
He was a member of the Sonlight Wesleyan Church where he sang in the choir. He had recently also attended the Freedom Baptist Church.
Born July 16, 1940, in Chicago, he was the son of Robert Earl Stradling and Marguerite Clingenpeel Stradling. He married Betty M. Simmons June 16, 1961, in Linden. She is deceased. He married Alana K. Perry December 27, 1986, in New Richmond. She survives.
Additional survivors include a son, R. Michael Stradling, of Waveland; two daughters, Michele R. Pitts, of Fishers and Susan M. Cox, of Lafayette; sister, Donna L. Alsup, of Lafayette; grandson, Sawyer Pitts, of Fishers; granddaughters, Payton Pitts and Kennedy Pitts, both of Fishers; three nieces; and four nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, James W. Stradling.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Sonlight Wesleyan Church with Pastor Keith Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. until the service Saturday at the church.
