Ruth Myrtle Flora, 90, of Arcanum, OH, went home to be with her Lord & Savior on Friday, January 10, 2014, at the home of Calvin & Linda Flora of Greenville, OH, surrounded by her family. She was born October 28, 1923 in Gettysburg, OH, to the late Solomon & Margaret (Mote) Lavy. She married Clyde Marion Flora on April 6, 1947, who preceded her in death on September 30, 1978. She has been a faithful member of the Old Brethren Church for many years where she has made a multitude of friends & served with a cheerful heart. For most of her widowed life, Ruth worked as a caregiver to many. She always enjoyed helping others, opening up her home to visitors & had a true gift of hospitality.
She is survived by three children, Calvin (Linda) Flora of Greenville, OH, Irene Pyle of Delphi, IN, & Terry (Adela) Flora, of Greenville, OH; 6 grandchildren: Brian (Marie) Flora, Michael (Naomi) Flora, Renae (Rusty) Eshleman, Elaine (Crit) Whitlock, Cheryl (Roger) Geisler, & Marsha Pyle; 13 great-grandchildren, Allison, Alex & Anna Flora, Emily, Michaela & Abigail Flora, Ella & Levi Eshleman, Danielle, Philip & Stephen Whitlock, Alicia (Jonathon) Hufford, & Erica Geisler; 1 great-great-grandchild, Ayden Condon; twin sister, Rhoda Milyard; brother-in-law, Joseph Graybill; 2 sisters -in-law Sylvia Lavy & Mary Lavy: & many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde; son-in-law Kenneth Pyle, 5 brothers-John, Joseph, Bennie, Daniel & Andrew Lavy; 4 sisters-Susie Sell, Martha Brumbaugh, Elizabeth Garber, & Mary Graybill; 3 brothers-in-law, Creele Sell, Owen Brumbaugh, Norman Garber; 2 sisters-in-law, Mary Lavy & Audrey Lavy.
Funeral Service 1p.m. Monday, January 13, 2014 at Bachelor Run Old German Baptist Brethren Church, Flora, IN with Home Brethren officiating. Burial to follow at Wise Cemetery, Delphi, IN. The family will receive friends on Sunday 2-6 p.m. at Stocker-Fraley Funeral Home, Bradford, OH and again on Monday from 11 a.m. until time of service at the church in Indiana.
