Steven C. "Steve" Needham, 61

Steven C. "Steve" Needham, 61, of Lafayette, passed away early Saturday morning in his home of natural causes. Born November 23, 1951 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late Gilbert H. and Henrietta (Hainje) Needham. Steve was a 1970 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and went on to graduate with an associate degree in retail marketing from Ivy Tech State College in South Bend. Steve retired from Purdue University, working first in the Office of Publications Department and then in the Property Accounting Department. Steve was an avid Purdue fan, attending Purdue football games and men's basketball games and was known to wear something with Purdue, be it a shirt, a cap, or even a pin. Steve was a member of the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church where he is a past member of the Church Council, a Deacon, and current Sound Technician for the church. Steve is also a member of the Lafayette Christian School Society and the Fairfield Township Advisory Board, having served several terms. He is a member of the John Purdue Club and an honorary member of the Purdue Reamer Club.

Surviving Steve are his two brothers, Mike Needham (wife, Kathy) and Mark Needham, both of Lafayette, his step-mother, Jeanette Needham of Lafayette, two step-brothers, Carl Vandergraff (wife, Margie) of Noblesville and Jess Vandergraff (wife, Donna) of West Lafayette, a step-sister, Deborah Nolting (husband, Tim) of Vincennes, two aunts, Jennie Kay Vanderkleed of Lafayette and Janet Hollister (husband, Richard) of Janesville, WI. Steve is also survived by 2 nieces, Melissa and Mary Beth, 3 nephews, Brendan, Daniel, and Joshua, and 3 great nieces and 1 great nephew.

Visitation 5-8 p.m. Wednesday at the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church, 1200 Tippecanoe Street and one hour prior to the services 10:30 a.m. Thursday in the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church with Pastors Mark Bonnes and Ashley Bonnes officiating. Burial to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park. The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Lafayette Christian Reformed Church or the Lafayette Christian School. On November 23, 2013, a tailgate celebration of Steve's life will be held prior to the Purdue and Illinois Football game and all are invited to stop by and remember Steve's life.
