Suella D. Harper

ATTICA — Suella Dean (Grimes) Harper, 89, formerly of Attica, passed away at the George Ade Memorial Healthcare Center, Brook, IN, on Thursday, May 31, 2012, at 5:10 a.m.

Suella was born in Portland Arch, IN, on February 23, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Pearl Lee Elmer and Chloie Estell (Newnum) Grimes. She had lived in Portland Arch for 20 years and later in Covington, before moving to Attica in 1942. She graduated from Covington High School in 1941. She resided in Attica until moving to Cumberland Pointe in West Lafayette in 2006.

Suella was a homemaker. She was a longtime member of the Attica Christian Church. She enjoyed playing bingo and taking long rides with the family. While in Cumberland Pointe, she enjoyed excursions sponsored by Cumberland Pointe and especially enjoyed fishing at the Columbia Park in Lafayette.

On March 9, 1941, Suella married William Hansel Harper in Stone Bluff, IN. Hansel preceded her in death on July 28, 1996.

Suella leaves behind her three children, Joyce Chloie Bell and Carl Wayne (Jackie) Harper, both of Attica; Todd Andrew (Jane) Harper, Lafayette; three grandchildren, Matthew Harper, San Francisco; Susan Wiltfang, Kentland and Tonya Shimfessel, Sellersburg, IN; seven great-grandchildren, Meagan Wirtz, Jenilie Hiatt, Bethany Wiltfang, Zach Auten, Anthony Auten Harper, Dalton Harper and Madison Shimfessel; three great great-grandchildren, Landon Auten, Hunter Wirtz and Jordan Wirtz. She was preceded in death by her grandson, Tony Harper and six brothers and sisters.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Sunday, June 3rd, from 12:00 p.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Bob Elness officiating. Burial will follow in the Riverside Cemetery, Attica. Memorial contributions may be made to the Attica Christian Church.
