Thelma E. Crubaugh

Newtown - Thelma Eileen (Knowles) Crubaugh, 89, formerly of Newtown and had been residing at the Mulberry Health & Retirement Community in Mulberry, IN, passed away at the Mulberry Community Center, on Thursday, August 2, 2012, at 2:12 p.m.

Thelma was born in Fountain County, IN, on March 16, 1923. She was the daughter of the late Albert S. and Mary Emma (Dewlen) Knowles, Jr. She was raised in the Newtown area, graduating from Richland Township School in 1941. She attended Anderson College for as short while.

On August 27, 1948, Thelma married Philip Ray Crubaugh, in Newtown, IN. He survives and is a retired minister.

Thelma had formerly worked as a bank teller in Wabash and LaPorte, IN. She later worked in the credit department for the Montgomery Ward store in Anderson.

She had been attending the Kelley Crossing Church of God in Frankfort. She was a member of the JOY (Just Older Youth) Senior Group at the Kelley Crossing Church of God. While living in Newtown she was an active member of the Newtown Book Club and the Ladies Aide of the Newtown Community Church. She enjoyed game shows and watching sports on television.

She leaves behind her husband, Philip, Mulberry; two daughters, Gelene (Jack) Walter, Lafayette; Cheryl (Rex) Cook, Lebanon, IN; two grandchildren, Tyler Ray Street and Jade D. Kas; four great-grandchildren, Brady, Sydnie, twins Charlie & Jacoby Kas; four nieces. She was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Linda Ray Crubaugh and a brother, Robert Knowles.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, August 6th, from 11:00 a.m. until service time at 2:00 p.m. with her husband, Philip Crubaugh officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. Hope Cemetery, Covington, IN. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
