Thelma Louise "Lou" Bir, 79, of Mulberry, IN, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Mulberry Health and Retirement Center. Born June 8, 1933 in Washington, IN, she was the daughter of the late William and Georgia Blanche (Bush) Stewart.
Her marriage was to Raymond Thomas Bir on April 1, 1950 in Lafayette and he preceded her in death. She was a co-owner and bookkeeper for Bir and Son Well Drilling and a homemaker. Lou was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church. She enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Surviving are two sons, Mark Bir (wife, Catherine) of Ft. Myers, FL and Dan Bir (wife, Patti) of West Carrollton, OH, daughter, Rebecca Bir Cobb (husband, Kevin) of Brownsburg, IN, and two brothers, Dr. William H. Stewart of Downey, CA and Donald Stewart (wife, Esther) of Whittier, CA. and sister-in-law Lavaun Stewart. Also surviving are 6 grandchildren, Megan Rubio (husband, Stuart), Brian Bir, Erin Paul (husband, Christopher), Aaron-Paul Bir, Julie Null (husband, Travis), and Melissa Null (husband, West) and 9 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a brother Harold Stewart, three sisters Katherine Greene, Ruth Hoyt, and Sue Givens, and a grandson Anthony Collin Bir.
The family will receive friends from 5-8 p.m. Sunday at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. Monday at St. Ann Catholic Church with Father Dominic Young officiating.
