Vivian Elizabeth Newhouse, 96, Frankfort, died February 22, 2013, at St. Vincent Frankfort Hospital.
Born, December 8, 1916, in Chalmers, Ind., to Jesse and Nora Josephine (Shigley) Cossel.
She married Gerald A. 'Jerry' Newhouse on September 22, 1947, in Bowling Green, Ky. and he preceded her in death on December 8, 1973.
Mrs. Newhouse attended schools in Chalmers and Clark Hill. She managed the Downtown Elks in Frankfort with her husband for 15 years, and then she retired in 1979 from the P.R. Mallory Company after working over 20 years. She was a member of the First Christian Church, past president and secretary of Women of Elks, member of VFW Auxiliary, Women of the Moose and volunteered as a Pink Lady for 14 years with over 900 hours.
She is survived by 3 Daughters: Trudy K. George of Noblesville, Judy C. (Ames) Shuel of Carmel, Jerri A. (Denny) Ridenour of rural Frankfort; Stepdaughter: Patricia Parker of Frankfort; 1 Sister: Violet Ruby Sterner of Sarasota, Fla.; 5 Grandchildren: Mandy (Rod) Taylor, Shelly Beavens, Steve & David Shuel and Bridget Walker; 7 Great-Grandchildren: Brant and Alex Taylor and Raelyn Beavens, Ames and Ava Walker and David and Ella Shuel.
She was preceded in death by a sister, a brother; and a stepson, Ronnie Newhouse.
Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 27, 2013, at Goodwin Funeral Home, 200 S. Main St., Frankfort. Visitation will be Tuesday, February 26, from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Wednesday. Burial will be in Chalmers Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to the
