Reverend William E. Thompson, 94

Funeral services for Reverend William E. Thompson, 94, will be Wednesday, January 23, at 11 a.m. at Christ Gospel Church, Jeffersonville, with burial in Walnut Ridge Cemetery. He died Saturday, January 19, at home with his loving wife by his side. He was born March 9, 1918, in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. He was a retired minister and farmer.

Bill met his wife, Ann, on the school bus 81 years ago, and they have been together ever since. They dated through high school and college and were married after both had graduated. They were married for 70 years. Bill was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.

He graduated from the University of Delaware with a degree in Agriculture. He also served 4 years in the Navy and in WWII. Bill enjoyed crosswords and other word puzzles and scrabble games. He also enjoyed hunting rabbits and squirrels. Bill always had a smile on his face and a kind word to speak to everyone. He enjoyed spending time with his family and going to church. He loved to sing and play both the piano and organ.

Survivors include his wife, Ann Thompson; two sons, Robert (Bonnie) and James (Jeanne); four grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his mother, father and four siblings.

Visitation will be from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday at Scott Funeral Home in Jeffersonville, and after 10 a.m. at the church on Wednesday.
