David Anthony Borga

David Anthony Borga, 67, of Lafayette, Indiana, formerly of New Philadelphia, Ohio, passed away at 1:27 a.m. Monday, March 3, 2014 at his home surrounded by his family.

He was born January 9, 1947 in Dover, Ohio to the late Anthony and Roberta (Howard) Borga and was a 1965 graduate of New Philadelphia High School. He received his Bachelors of Science in business from Cleveland State University.

Mr. Borga was an honorably discharged United States Army veteran serving from 1969 - 1971 and was a MP at Ft. Bragg in North Carolina.

His marriage was to Lillian Everett on September 6, 1969 at Broadway United Methodist Church in New Philadelphia, Ohio. She survives.

He was a member of Kossuth Street Baptist Church.

Mr. Borga worked for Montgomery Ward's Department Store for many years and helped open the store at the Tippecanoe Mall, working there until its close. Afterwards, he was an Assistant Manager at Big Lots for five years and was a partner in Reifer's Oriental Rugs and Carpeting for several years. He was also a partner with his daughter-in-law at Creative Inc. Graphics Company in Lafayette.

Dave liked golfing and was an avid car enthusiast, enjoying riding in and examining all types of cars including muscle, antique and performance vehicles.

Surviving with his wife are two sons, Shawn Borga (wife: Lucy) of Lafayette and Josh Borga (wife: Samantha) of Battle Ground and a brother, Joel Borga (wife Marilyn) of New Philadelphia, OH.

Dave loved spending time with his family, especially his sons and his grandchildren, Penni, who helped immensely as a caregiver for her grandfather, Nicholas, Levi, Micah, Karisma and Lizzy. He was like a great-grandfather to two special foster children.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Kossuth Street Baptist Church (2901 Kossuth Street, Lafayette, IN); Pastor Don Whipple to officiate. Hartzler-Clapper Funeral Home of Brookston is entrusted with care.

Memorials may be made in his name to the Kossuth Street Baptist Church or to the Guardian Angels Hospice.
