Richard Earl Parker

Richard Earl Parker, 90, of Lafayette, passed away at home at 10:43 p.m. on Tuesday, March 18, 2014. Born March 26, 1923 in Lafayette, he was the son of the late William R. and Lela K. (Canada) Parker. He honorably served in the Army during WWII.

Earl married Betty Ann Connelly on September 16, 1950 in Lafayette and she preceded him in death on November 17, 2011. He was a cement truck driver for Verplank Concrete and Supply for 38 ½ years. He was a member of Elston Presbyterian Church and enjoyed gardening, reading westerns and reading his Bible.

Surviving are his children, Greg Parker (wife, Sandy) of Science Hill, Kentucky and Debra Kerfoot (husband, Rex) of Greer, SC; a sister Jean Stotler (husband, Delbert) of Monticello, IN; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, June and Lloyd Bailey of Lafayette; six grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by four brothers and four sisters.

Visitation from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Pastor Rick Ryan officiating. Burial to follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with Military Honors. Memorial contributions may be made to Elston Presbyterian Church. Hippensteel Funeral Home is entrusted with care.
