Linda Lou Young, 73, of Lafayette, passed away on April 2, 2014 at 2:46 p.m. at her residence. Linda was born on February 17, 1941 in Pyrmont, IN to the late Lawrence M. and Ruth Gladys (Overly) Metzger. Linda worked as a driver for UPS for 27 years before retiring in 2002. She was a member of Life Journeys Metropolitan Community Church in Indianapolis. Linda enjoyed working in the yard, camping and the outdoors. She was also a big sports fanatic of Purdue, especially basketball and Colts football, and also loved her dog Mimi Monroe.
Surviving is one daughter, Peggy (companion; Rob) Young of Brownsburg, three sons, Randall (wife: Joyce) Young of Battle Ground, Rollin (wife: Phyllis) Young of Rossville, and Phillip (wife: Carla) Young of Lafayette, and one granddaughter that she raised since she was 9 months, Barbara Young. Also surviving is one brother, Don R. Metzger of Lafayette, two sisters, Shirley (husband: Karl) Powell of Woodburn, and Edith (husband: Bill) Reed of Florida, 5 grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and her very best friend, Mary (husband: Kevin) Cook of Lafayette.
She is preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence "Metz" Metzger, and Edward "Ed" Metzger, and two sisters, Gertrude Butler, and Joy Stingley.
Services will be on Monday, April 7, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. with visitation one hour prior at Simplicity Funeral Care. Memorial contributions can be made to
