Dorothy L. (LaFon) Shinn Felix, 83

Dorothy L. (LaFon) Shinn Felix, 83, of West Lafayette, passed away at 12:28 p.m. on Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus. Born September 6, 1930 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Frances (Bane) LaFon. Dorothy was a 1948 graduate of Montmorenci High School. Her first marriage was to William J. Shinn on January 6, 1952 in West Lafayette and he preceded her in death on May 28, 1988. Dorothy married Harry R. Felix on October 27, 1991 in the Montmorenci United Methodist Church and he survives. While living in Phoenix, AZ with her first husband, Dorothy was a school cafeteria manager in the Greater Phoenix area for 12 years. Dorothy enjoyed quilting with her friends, traveling, playing bingo, visiting casinos, playing euchre and other card games, and spending time with her family.

Surviving with her husband, Harry, are three children, William L. Shinn (fiancé, Marissa Longcop) of Otterbein, Bonnie L. Sprague (fiancé, William E. Jimerson) of West Lafayette, and Connie S. Dittmer of Lancaster, WI, four stepchildren, Diane E. Felix (husband, William Lindsley) of St. Louis, MO, Douglas R. Felix (wife, Debra) of West Lafayette, Dennis S. Felix (wife, Kristi) of Lafayette, and Dawn M. Greenkorn (husband, David) of Spencer, IN. Dorothy is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two sons, James A. Shinn and David E. Shinn, 2 brothers, 1 sister, and a grandson, Lloyd E. Pearson.

Visitation from 1:00 p.m. Saturday until the 2:00 p.m service Saturday at Hippensteel Funeral Home with Pastor Brian White officiating. Interment at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens.
