Betty Lou (Leffingwell) Lewis, formerly of Rensselaer, went to her heavenly reward on April 29, 2014, after a courageous 5 year battle with cancer. Betty was born December 8, 1937, in Fowler, Indiana to Harley and Ruth Leffingwell. Betty attended Fowler High School and later attended Saint Joseph's College. She married Robert R. Tubbs in 1954.
In 1966, she moved to Rensselaer, Indiana where she worked for Von Tobel Lumber Company and then Northway Products. Betty was a pioneer as a computer systems analyst for several companies for which she traveled across the United States to install software and train the staff. She moved to the Chicagoland area in 1977, then in 1980 to Newport Beach, California where she worked for Bayley, Martin & Faye, which then took her to Fort Worth, Texas. Betty retired from AON Corporation in Fort Worth, Texas in 1996. She enjoyed traveling, through her job which took her many places, and for pleasure; all over the Unites States, Hawaii, Alaska, England, France, and Germany/Austria.
Betty married Milton "Moe" Lewis on November 27, 1997, in Hurst, Texas after which she relocated to Spring Hill, Florida.
Betty is survived by her husband, four children, Robert C. (Karen) Tubbs of Moline, Illinois, Beverly (Dave) Williams of Indianapolis, Indiana, Becky (Rick) Shide of Rensselaer, Indiana, and Brian (Donna) Tubbs of Brownsburg, Indiana; six grandchildren, Robert W. Tubbs, Edward (Angie) Tubbs, Amy (Jason) Kishton, Kevin Shide, Meredith (Kyle) Tubbs, and John Williams and one great-grandson, Grady Kishton; two sisters, Delores Gross of Fowler, Indiana and Joyce (Donald) Bradley of Franklin, Indiana. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Robert Leffingwell.
The family is grateful to Sturgis Hospice Center in Brookville, Florida for their compassionate care. Memorials can be made to any Home Healthcare or Hospice of your choice.
The family will receive friends at Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer on Saturday, June 7, 2014 from 9 to 11 A.M. CST. A Celebration of Life will follow at 11 A.M. Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Jackson Funeral Chapel of Rensselaer with Reverend Donald Bradley officiating. Burial will be at the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler, Indiana at a later time.
