Anna M. (Turner) Sweet, 83, of Lafayette, passed away at 4:33 a.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014 at St. Elizabeth Central Hospital following a brief illness. Born August 20, 1930 in Richmond, IN, she was the daughter of the late Ralph Morton and Marie Cora Ellen (Stricker) Turner. She was a 1948 graduate of Shadeland High School.
Anna married Kenneth Eugene Sweet on February 6, 1953 at the Stidham United Methodist Church near Shadeland and he preceded her in death on April 21, 2013. She was a legal secretary for the former National Homes Acceptance Corporation from 1954 to 1972. She worked part time at Mr. Donut from 1972 to 1975 and then she sold Avon products from 1976 until retiring in 1992. Anna was a member of Schuyler Avenue Wesleyan Church, formerly bowled in the Women's Bowling Leagues in Lafayette, enjoyed swimming, playing euchre, working crossword puzzles, gardening, walking, watching the Indianapolis Colts and Indianapolis Pacers and the Chicago White Sox.
Surviving are her three daughters, Cynthia Sweet and Pamela R. Sharp both of Lafayette and Sandra Goon (husband, Edwin) of Oxford; a sister, Opal Swank of Waynetown, and two brothers, Gary Turner (wife, Marilyn) of Athens, TN and David Turner (wife, Patti) of Washougal, WA; and three stepsisters. Also surviving are two grandchildren, Troy Hurst (wife, Courtney) and Tyler Sharp, two great-grandchildren, Peyton and Tyson Hurst, two stepgrandchildren, Ryan Goon (wife, Emilee) and Kevin Goon (wife, Brittany), one stepgreat-grandchild, Landry Goon, and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family. She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Lou Thornburg and Janine Wright and one brother, Ralph "Bud" Turner.
Visitation from 5 to 7 p.m. on Monday at Hippensteel Funeral Home followed by the service at 7 p.m. in Hippensteel Chapel with Pastor Don Morgan officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to the
