Vera K. Stock, 95, of Michigantown, passed away Friday, June 20, 2014, at Mulberry Health and Retirement Community.
She was born February 20, 1919, in Clinton County, the daughter of John and Goldie Salmon Taylor. Vera graduated from Frankfort High School in 1937, marrying Leo Albin "Abe" Stock on July 3 of that same year. They lived in Lafayette for six years, but then moved to Clinton County, where they spent the balance of their lives. Abe preceded her in death January 7, 2008.
Vera was a homemaker and a stay at home mom until her daughter went to college. She then worked at People's Life Insurance Company and one winter at Custom Cleaners. She helped her husband with the farming as well as in his woodworking shop, where she was the number one finisher on projects. Vera was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and the Altar and Rosary Society, as well as a long time member of the Clinton County Campers. Her favorite pastime was playing cards with family and friends.
Vera is survived by her daughter, Sharon Shuemak of Cincinnati; daughter-in-law, Donna Stock of Lafayette; sister, Imogene Coons Royal; five grandchildren, Robert Shuemak and Roberta Shuemak, both of Cincinnati, OH, Darryl (Ann) Stock of Carmel, Neal (Candy) Stock of Westfield, and Patty Reames of Lafayette; ten great-grandchildren, Lori, Faith, Levi, Bryant, Brenden, Savannah, Emily, Melanie, Darnell, and William; and five great-great-grandchildren, Julian, Maddox, Linc, Royce, and Ollie.
In addition to her parents and husband, Vera was preceded in death by her son, John Stock; two sisters, Mary Frey Bricker and Thelma Whitinger; and one brother Howard Taylor.
Visitation will be held at Genda Funeral Home in Frankfort on Tuesday, June 24, 2014, from 4-6 p.m. with Rosary Service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Funeral mass will be held at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Frankfort on Wednesday, June 25, 2014, with Fr. Chris Miller presiding. Burial will follow in Green Lawn Cemetery in Frankfort. Memorials in Vera's name may be made to St. Mary's Catholic Church Building Fund.
