Glenn L. Fletcher, Jr.

Glenn Fletcher Jr., 70, passed away unexpectedly on July 1st, 2014. Known as "Fletch" for most of his life, he attended Jefferson High School and graduated from Purdue University. He worked in accounting and management for TRW for many years, starting out at Ross Gear in Lafayette and then moving on to work at plants in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and Texas before landing his "dream job" which allowed him to move back home and work from the Lafayette office once again. He travelled far and wide; he had the opportunity to visit almost every state in the U.S. as well as Bermuda, Mexico, England, Switzerland, and Germany. He was a lover of nature and the outdoors; he loved to fish, identify birds, garden, and tinker around in the yard - he always mowed perfect diagonal lines across his lawn. He loved to read and was an avid learner. He challenged himself, in his retirement, to understand concepts such as string theory and the theory of relativity; he always had an eye on the sky, watching the moon and stars and pondering upon the possibilities. He was a sports fanatic with an endless knowledge of statistics and was nimble with his TV remote such that he could flip between sporting events and never miss a thing (especially the Colts or any Purdue game). And then there was golf - he was passionate about this one above all others. He loved to golf and had recently been teaching his oldest grandson the art of the sport he loved so well. He was funny - always with a goofy story or silly joke. And for the intellectual he was: as the physicists say - your energy is always here, as it always was, and it always will be - and that is a scientific fact.

He is survived by his wife of 45 years, Kathy (Schrader) of Lafayette; his three children, Holly Fletcher-Timmons, J. Ryan Fletcher and Allison Fletcher-Romero, all of the Lafayette area; six grandchildren, Steven, Charlie, Sarah, Jaxon, Katie, and Dakota; his father, Glenn Fletcher Sr., of Aurora, IL; his brother, Vincent Lynn Fletcher of Lafayette; and his sister, Sue Ann Crum of Norman, OK. He was preceded in death by his mother, Doris Moffett Shively.

Please come share your memories and celebrate his life with his family on Sunday, July 6th from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. at Fisher Funeral Chapel. Memorial donations may be made to the family for his grandchildren's college funds.
