Phyllis (Swisher) Kelly, 79, of Lafayette, passed away at 10:06 p.m. on Monday, July 14, 2014, at IU Health Arnett Hospital. Born in Lafayette on January, 26, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Albert and Katherine (Taylor) Swisher. She graduated from West Point High School.
Phyllis married Denzel Kelly and he preceded her in death. She was an assistant secretary for seven Eisner Grocery Stores for 40 years. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church and a former member of the Moose Lodge. She enjoyed playing Bingo and bowling.
Surviving are her children, a son Gary Kelly (wife, Cindy) of Lafayette and a daughter Tina Swift (husband, Jeff) of Rossville, four sisters, Donna Vogel, Alberta Cook, Judy Riley, and Linda Maddox, and four brothers, John, Joe, and Jerry Swisher and Jay Summers. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Amber and Jennifer Kelly, Shawn Swift and Allan Lucas. She was preceded in death by a brother Jim Swisher.
Visitation Thursday, from 5 to 8 p.m., with rosary service at 4:45 p.m., at Hippensteel Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial Friday at 10 a.m. at Church of the Blessed Sacrament with Father David Buckles officiating.
