Barbara Louise Irvin Swearingen, 69

Linden - Barbara Louise Irvin Swearingen age 69, died 7:32 p.m. August 6, 2014 in IU Health Hospital, Lafayette, following a lengthy illness. She was born March 13, 1945 and raised in Linden, daughter of the late Lawrence and Ortha Daniels Irvin. She was first married to Charles T. Eubanks, they divorced, she then married James Alexander, they divorced, she married C. Clyde Swearingen and he preceded her in death.

Barbara was a 1963 graduate of Linden High School and the House of James Beauty School in Crawfordsville. She owned and operated Kut & Kurl Shop in Crawfordsville until she moved to Florida in 1988. In Florida, she was in management with Dollar General Stores, until her health failed. She enjoyed crocheting, reading and motorcycles.

After her health failed, she lived in a retirement/health facility in Georgia, until moving back to Indiana in 2012, where she resided in Regency Place/Signature.

Survivors include two daughters, Tesha Dee Eubanks Lester of Adel, Georgia, and Anita May (husband Ryan) Alexander Brown of New Richmond; a brother, Jesse Irvin of Waynetown; a sister, Clarine Bear of Arizona; sister-in-law, Kathy Irvin of Lafayette; four grandchildren, Kesha, Alesha, Scott and Riley; five great-grandchildren, Khloyee, Joscelyn, Serenity, Owen and Ryder. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband C. Clyde, a sister, Joyce, brothers, Joe, Kenneth and William.

Her family will greet guests 5:00-7:00 p.m. Saturday, August 9, 2014 at Family & Friends Funeral Home of Wingate. Her funeral service will follow the visitation, beginning at 7:00 p.m. with Pastor John Pettigrew officiating. Cremation will follow the service and she will be inurned in Linden Cemetery at a later date. Memorial contributions may be directed to Church of Abundant Faith, Crawfordsville, envelopes available at the funeral home.
