Daniel Jeffries Obituary
47, died unexpectedly from a heart attack on February 6, 2017 in Austin, Texas where he was employed. He was born in Lafayette on March 9, 1969 to Arliss and Linda Jeffries who survive.
He grew up in Dayton, IN and was a 1988 graduate of McCutcheon High School. While in high school, he was a member of the Lafayette Police Department's Explorer Program, which confirmed his life choice of law enforcement work. He was also an Eagle Scout. He then spent four years as an MP in the U.S Army, serving in Germany and West Point, NY. After his army tour, he joined the Marion, IN Police Department. During his 12 years on the Marion force, he won Top Gun Shooter three years in a row and was honored by MADD numerous times for his work in removing impaired drivers from Grant County streets. He was an accident reconstructionist and a member of their FACT team. He was also instrumental in handling the details of honor services for fallen police officers. He was a sergeant when he left Marion to work at the Indiana Criminal Justice Institute in Indianapolis where he began his work on motorcycle safety, awareness, education, and grant writing to obtain funds to produce programming. He began working for the Texas Department of Transportation four years ago as a Strategic Planner, specializing in motorcycle safety, awareness, and education. He was dearly loved by all who worked with him at every job because of his dedication toward his work, compassion for others, his sense of honor and integrity, and a giant sense of humor. He was also an avid biker; his biker name was "Twisted!"
On October 3, 1998, he married the love of his life, Megan (Hardin), in Marion, IN. She and their children (hearts of his heart), Josie and Tyler, survive. His brother Ben Jeffries (Leslie), his sister Becky (Damon) Yuill, and nephews Anthony and Eric Yuill also survive, as does a large extended family of aunts, uncles, and cousins, all of whom love him and miss him beyond words.
Celebration of Life services are pending in Austin, Marion, and finally in Lafayette. Details are still to be determined.

Sending condolences to Dan's family. Just learned of his passing. Knew him and his wonderful parents and siblings as a child and it sounds like he had a terrific life with those he loved and who loved him. Wishing all his loved ones the very best and sending boundless gratitude for the care and kindness his family showed to their neighbor kid across the street. Dan was a great guy and we worked together a lot on joint city-county Operation Pull Over details. He had a real heart for traffic safety and was fun to work with. Keeping all of his family in my prayers in these tough days ahead. RIP my brother.

Dan was a very considerable person and respectful of others and those qualities are not found in a lot of people in today's Society , because of these traits I liked Dan from the first moment I met him and he stayed true to these traits the rest of his life, for the person he was he will be missed through time by the people who were his Friends !!
