William Lloyd "Butch" Roush

William Lloyd "Butch" Roush, 64 years old of Lafayette, passed away on Monday, October 17, 2011 at 1:44 a.m. in his home.

He was born May 25, 1947 in Lafayette, to the late Lloyd Roush and Violet Eileen Speer Roush Hammond. Butch graduated from Jefferson High School in 1965.

On December 24, 1966, he married Diana Lynn Trillingham and she survives.

Butch faithfully served his country in the United States Army during the Vietnam War from 1966 to 1968. He received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the National Defense Service Medal, and the Bronze Star for Valor, the Purple Heart, and the U.S. Army Commendation Medal for Valor Under Enemy Fire.

He worked as the Yard Master for CSX Railroad here in Lafayette for 35 years.

Butch enjoyed NASCAR, Drag Racing, BMX, Motocross, and go-cart racing.

Surviving with his wife, Diana of Lafayette are a daughter, Christie Lynn Shipley (husband: Denver) of Clarks Hill; a son, William L. Roush II (wife: Brenda Jill) of Westpoint; a half sister, Gloria Roush; and a step sister, Rita Roush. Also surviving are 5 grandsons, Denver "Quirt", Hunter, Ian, Adam, and Nolan, 2 step granddaughters, Amanda and Elishia, and 2 great grandchildren, Aubrey Ann and Logan.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Margaret Darling and a brother, Daniel Roush.

Friends will be received from 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, October 19 at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel, Lafayette. Services will be held at Fisher-Loy Funeral Chapel on Thursday, October 20, 2011 at 1 p.m. with Pastor Tom Camp officiating. Interment will follow in the Tippecanoe Memory Gardens with Full Military Honors. Memorial Contributions may be made to the .
