Jeffrey A. Hunter

Jeffrey Allen Hunter, 55, of Lebanon, passed away Jan. 28, 2012 at his residence. He was born on his mother's birthday, July 1, 1956 in Tipton, Indiana. The son of William "Bill" and Mary (Rott) Hunter. He graduated from Tipton High School in 1974 and lived in Tipton, Wyoming, Sheridan and Lebanon for the last 22 years. He attended Ivy Tech and became a welder, machine alterations and repairman having worked for the Large Engine Center at Caterpillar in Lafayette for more than 23 years.

Jeff married Shirley (Wheeler) Hunter on Dec. 2, 1989; she survives. Jeff was a lover of nature, God's creation. He was an avid fisherman and hunter. He loved his family, his church and was an excellent provider for his wife and children. He was an Elder at Lebanon Christian Church and he and Shirley were very actively a part of mentoring, teaching, counseling and doing service for the Lord.

Survivors include his mother; his wife, Shirley who resides in Lebanon; daughter Dustina (David) Hunter-Jackson of Tipton; sons, Joshua (Lyndsey) Hunter and Jacob Hunter, both of Tipton, Rick (Sheilla) Strouse and Dave (Cheryl) Strouse; granddaughters, Addi, Emily, Angie and Tiff; grandsons Brody, Jeremy Reed and Nick Taylor; one great-granddaughter Chloe Reed; siblings John (Patty) Hunter of Indianapolis, Jerry (Jean) Hunter of California, Joe Hunter of Tipton and Janice Hunter of Atlanta, Indiana. He was preceded in death by his father.

Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, Jan. 31 from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. and Wednesday, Feb. 1 from 10:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. in the Lebanon Christian Church, 610 W 250 N, Lebanon. Pastor Lee Faust will officiate his funeral at 1 p.m. on Wednesday at the church. Mr. Hunter will be laid to rest in the Old Union Cemetery in Jamestown.
