Chester Pendleton Obituary

Chester L. Pendleton, 66

Chester L. "Punkin" Pendleton, 66, of Lafayette, died at 10 p.m. Friday, January 27, 2012, at Manatee Memorial Hospital in Bradenton, Fla.

He was born November 3, 1945, in Lafayette, to the late Walter and Goldie McCracken Pendleton.

He graduated from Southwestern High School in 1964. On May 9, 1998, in Mexico, Ind., he married Teresa Bowyer, and she survives.

Mr. Pendleton worked 9 years at Russell F. Davis Construction, Reith Riley Construction 22 years as construction foreman and job superintendent and later a heavy equipment operator for A & K Construction. Mr. Pendleton was a forty-year member of the Laborers Union Local #274. Mr. Pendleton most enjoyed time with family and friends, but his most favorite time was spent with his grandchildren, whom he named The Corporation, Noah, Connor, Ethan and Drake.

Surviving are his wife, Teresa J. Pendleton of Lafayette; 2 sons, Matthew Pendleton of Lafayette, Wesley Pendleton (wife: Tara) of Lafayette and stepson, Ryan Williams (wife: Alison) of Indianapolis; 1 daughter, Abby Pendleton of Lafayette and stepdaughter, Shelley Conyers (husband: Brian) of New Castle; 2 sisters, Betty Pfeiffer of Linden and Patty Hicks (husband: Ray) of Lafayette; a brother, Tony Pendleton (wife: Deb) of Lafayette; and 4 grandchildren, Noah and Ethan Pendleton, Connor Williams and Drake Pendleton. Preceded in death by a sister, Martha Jean Gellenbeck.

Visitation will be 2-5 p.m. Sunday, February 5, 2012, at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel. Funeral Service 10 a.m. Monday at Soller-Baker Lafayette Chapel, Tim Deardorff officiating. Burial will be at Wyandote Cemetery. Those wishing may contribute to the American Heart Assoc. Send online condolences to www.soller-baker.com.
