Alice P. Arvin, 86

Alice Pauline Pender Arvin, 86, of Jefferson Township, Carroll County, died Wed., Feb. 15, 2012, at 7:25 p.m. unexpectedly at St. Elizabeth Healthcare Center, Delphi. She had been a resident there for 2 days and in ill health for 1 week. She was born January 25, 1926, in Gary, IN, to the late George and Lorraine Ledman Pender. Her marriage was to William "Bill" Arvin on Dec. 31, 1948, in Campbell County, KY, and he survives. She and her husband resided at Carroll Manor Home for the past 3 years. She attended high school in Michigan and was a 1945 graduate of the University of Beauty Culture in Indianapolis. She worked at the former Brown Rubber Co. and the Beauty Walk Hair Salon, both in Lafayette. She attended the Delphi Christian Church. She and her husband loved to travel, and wintered in Leesburg, FL, for many years. She enjoyed china painting, oil canvas painting, mushroom hunting, her card club, sewing and was a wonderful pie baker. She dearly loved her husband and daughter, her grand- and great-grandchildren, and all of her extended family and many friends. They were her life.

Surviving are her husband, William "Bill" Arvin of Delphi; daughter, Donna Sales and Bob Sales of Delphi; grandchildren, Kent and Jennifer Sales and Anita and Todd Hoshaw; and great-grandchildren, Alison and Haley, Trey, Morgan, Makayla, and Katie.

Friends may call Friday 5-8 p.m. at Abbott Funeral Home, Delphi. Service there Saturday 2 p.m., Pastor Dan Gottschalk officiating. Burial at IOOF Memorial Gardens, Pittsburg.
