James "Jim" Joseph Ryves, age 81, of Lafayette, died at 10:03 p.m. Saturday, February 25, 2012 surrounded by his family, at IU Health Arnett Hospital.
Born on March 11, 1930 in Evansville, he was the son of the late William A. Ryves & Rosetta J. Meyers Ryves. He was a 1949 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
He married the love of his life, Mary Louise Brown on March 12, 1950 at St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Lafayette and she preceded him in death on January 1, 2009.
Jim was a machinist for 35 years at TRW Ross Gear and retired in 1985. He attended St. Lawrence Catholic Church. Jim was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying trapshooting, fishing, hunting & archery.
Surviving are 4 daughters: Carol Ryves of Daytona Beach, FL, Rosemary Ryves of Lafayette, Kathleen Askins (husband: William) of Pyrmont, Jeanie Baughn (husband: James) of Kettering, OH, 3 siblings: Marjorie Ryves & Jack Ryves (wife: Bonnie) both of Lafayette, Thomas Ryves (wife: Pam) of Delphi, 8 grandchildren: Andy Shaff (wife: Tara) of Denver, CO, Tony Shaff of Brooklyn, NY, Elaine Hayes of Lafayette, Allison Moats (husband: Tim) of Stonington, IL, Sarah Baughn of Columbus, OH, Jessica Viers (husband: Joey) of Kettering, OH, Kelli Baughn of Bowling Green OH, , Daniel Baughn of Kettering, OH, 6 great-grandchildren: Thea Shaff, Emily Lewsader (husband: Sean), Kimberly Jackson, Sean Moats-Murray, Timmy Moats & Emmett Viers & 2 great-great-grandchildren: Brody Lewsader & Reis Lewsader. He was preceded in death by a son: Michael Joseph Ryves.
Friends may call 10-11 a.m. Wednesday at St. Lawrence Catholic Church followed with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Rev. Fr.
