Dean Ray Shepherd

Dean Ray Shepherd, 74, died, Tuesday, Jan 1, 2013, at Franklin United Methodist Community. He was a resident of Franklin.

Dean was born Feb. 24, 1938, in Boswell to John B. and Lottie B. (Goodwine) Shepherd. He was employed by Pan American Tracking Station from 1965 to 1990 at several locations; the Bahamas, Seychelles, Ascension Islands, Turks and Caicos Islands and Kwajalein Islands. In 1991 he left Pan American to work for CSR Down Range Tracking Station in Antigua and British Indies and other various islands in the Caribbean. He traveled the world, retiring in October 2002, where he enjoyed living in Palm Bay, Florida. In 2007 he moved to the Franklin United Methodist Community.

Survivors include two brothers; his twin, Donald F.(Gloria) Shepherd, of Franklin and Rex Shepherd, of Iowa; and a sister, Barbara Branam, of Ft. Wayne; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, John B. and Lottie B. Shepherd; four brothers, Charles Vernon Shepherd, Harry Shepherd, Harold Shepherd and Leonard Shepherd; three nieces; and two nephews.

Private services will be held at a later date.
