Dorothy M. "Dot" (Anderson) Sense, 95, of Lafayette, passed peacefully in her daughter's home at 7:40 a.m. on Wednesday, January 16, 2013. Born April 15, 1917, in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late Clifton H. and Adela (Werner) Anderson. She was a 1934 graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School.
Dorothy married Glenn E. Sense on September 17, 1936, in Lafayette and he preceded her in death on March 28, 1990. She worked in the Ivy Room at the former L.S. Ayres for 20 years. After retiring she worked for several years at Kenny's Dry Cleaners. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church for over 60 years. She was also a member of Eastern Star and Home Hospital Auxiliary. She was a Pink Lady at Home Hospital and worked in the gift shop, and also delivered Meals on Wheels for 15 years. Dorothy treasured the time spent with her family.
Surviving are her five daughters, Ruth Ann Habben, of Lafayette, Jane DeMay (husband: Jack), of Monticello, Susan Mollenkopf, of Lafayette, Barbara Sense, of Lafayette, and Linda Baker (husband: James), of South Haven, Mich.; four grandchildren, Debbie Stieneker (husband: Bill), Steve Habben (wife: Doreen), Jennifer Mollenkopf Huber (husband: James), and Jack "JJ" Mollenkopf (wife: Sarah); and six great grandsons, Ryan and Justin Habben, Joshua and Ethan Stieneker, and Jack and Daniel Huber.
She was preceded in death by three sisters, Ruth E. Baumgaertel, Alice M. Adams and Elda Payne; a brother, C. Herbert Anderson; a granddaughter, Marci Lynn DeMay; and two son-in-laws, Dr. Jack Mollenkopf and Kenny Habben.
Visitation from 12 to 2 p.m. on Saturday at Hippensteel Funeral Home, with the service to follow at 2 p.m.; the Rev. Linda Dolby officiating. Burial to follow at Rest Haven Memorial Park.
