Lawrence G. "Dick" Fletcher

Williamsport - Lawrence Garold "Dick" Fletcher, 72, Williamsport, passed away in the emergency room of the St. Vincent Williamsport Hospital on Thursday, February 14, 2013, at 6:13 a.m. He had been in failing health.

Dick was born in Warren County, Indiana, on October 13, 1940. He was the son of the late Sam Garold and Josephine (Starkey) Fletcher. Dick grew up in Attica and attended Attica High School. He has lived most of his life in Warren County, IN.

Dick formerly worked at C & D Batteries in Attica and for the past 25 years he worked for the Warren County Highway Department. He retired as a supervisor from the department in 2006.

Dick enjoyed boating, camping and spending time with the grandchildren.

On August 25, 1961, Dick married Virginia Childress in Williamsport. She survives.

Dick leaves behind his wife, Virginia, of 51 years; three sons, Rusty Dean (Tena) Fletcher, West Lebanon, Randy J. (Connie) Fletcher and Rodney G. Fletcher, both of Williamsport; four grandsons, Bennett D. (fiancée-Samantha Peeler) Fletcher, Zachery R. Fletcher and Justin T. Fletcher, all of Williamsport, Samuel G. (Gabby) Fletcher, U.S. Marine Corps,Camp Lejeune, NC; four granddaughters, Trista K. Fletcher, Kaitlin Fletcher, Celeina Fletcher, Alyssa Fletcher, all of Williamsport; a great-granddaughter, Journey Fletcher, Williamsport. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl & Mary Hoppes, who helped raise Dick and a daughter-in-law, Michelle Fletcher.

Friends may call at the Maus Funeral Home, Attica, on Monday, February 18th, from 5:00 p.m. until service time at 8:00 p.m. with Chaplain James Meyer officiating, followed by a military service.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Woodland Manor Nursing Center, Warren County EMS Department or the Williamsport Fire Department.
