Ruth A. Clark, 93, a former resident of Rosewalk Commons Retirement Community in Lafayette, Indiana passed away at 9:45 a.m. on Wednesday, March 27, 2013 at Creasy Springs. Born Ruth A. Auld on October 4, 1919 in Hazel Crest, Illinois, she was the daughter of John A. and Ada Ramscar Auld. Her family moved to North Liberty, Indiana in 1936 and she graduated from Liberty Township High School in 1937. Her marriage was in 1939 to Durwood H. Clark of North Liberty, who preceded her in death in 1995. Surviving are two children, Gordon H. Clark (wife, Barbara S.) of West Lafayette and Lawane C. Lord (husband, Gary E.) of Lafayette, four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A third child, Edwin L. Clark died accidentally at the age of 12.
After moving to North Liberty, Mrs. Clark worked briefly as an operator on North Liberty's first telephone switchboard. Mrs. Clark and her husband served as deacons of the North Liberty First Brethren Church from 1962 until his death, when she moved to the Lafayette area. She enjoyed volunteering her time for several years in the St. Elizabeth (Central) Hospital gift shop. She moved to Rosewalk Commons in 2006.
Interment will take place in a private remembrance at North Liberty Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Tippecanoe County Public Library, 627 South St., Lafayette, IN 47901. Hippensteel Funeral Home entrusted with care.
