George W. Puetz

George W. Puetz, 92, of West Lafayette, formerly of Fowler, passed away at Cumberland Pointe Health Campus on Tuesday, April 16, 2013. Born February 22, 1921 in Dunnington, IN, he was the son of the late Mathias and Mary (Mertes) Puetz. George was a graduate of Ambia High School. He honorably served in the Army Air Force during WWII from 1943 to 1945.

He married Patricia A. "Pat" McGraw on August 16, 1947 in Muncie, IN. She preceded him in death on April 3, 2008.

George farmed in Benton County and was a bookkeeper for DeMeter for 25 years. He was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church. He enjoyed golf, playing cards, and Hawaiian music.

Surviving are three sons, Dan Puetz (wife, Patricia) of Albuquerque, NM, Steve Puetz (wife, Elena) of Honolulu, Hawaii, and Phil Puetz (wife, Mary Lou) of West Lafayette; a daughter, Carol Baum (husband, Rex) of Lakewood, CO, a daughter-in-law, Barb Puetz of Lafayette; and two brothers Father Richard Puetz of Delphi, IN and Alban Puetz of Dunnington, IN. Also surviving are 13 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a son David Puetz, four sisters and four brothers.

The family will receive friends from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday at Church of the Blessed Sacrament in West Lafayette with Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11 a.m. Father David Buckles and Father Richard Puetz officiating.
