Marjorie M. "Marge" (Smith) Edmondson, 73, of Lafayette, passed away at 6:22 a.m. on Thursday, May 16, 2013 at St. Mary's Health Care in Lafayette. Born May 7, 1940 in Lafayette, she was the daughter of the late William and Ida (Caylor) Smith. On June 7, 1958 she married Larry Edmondson, and he survives.
She was a graduate of Lafayette Jefferson High School and worked as a mortgage loan specialist for Lafayette Savings Bank. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church, the American Legion Aux Post 11, 40 & 8 LaFemmes, the Navy Club, the Eagles and a life member of the VFW 1154. She was an avid NASCAR fan who loved watching the #3 car, Dale Earnhardt. Her hobbies included bowling, roller skating, collecting Boyd's Bears, and she especially enjoyed spending time with family, grandchildren, and friends.
Marge is survived by her three children, Larry Edmondson Jr. of Battleground, Keith Edmondson of Lafayette, and Kimberly Holmes (husband Tony) of Lafayette; two sisters, Lillian Davis, and Opal Smith (husband William) both of Lafayette; six grandchildren, Jennifer R. Sanders (husband John), Ryan K. Edmondson (wife Jamie), Lindsay M. Leon (husband Patrick), Ashley N. Robledo (husband Tyler), Dalton A. Edmondson, and Alexis K. Cripe; and five great-grandchildren, Ethan, Evan, Caleigh, Aiden and Colton.
She was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.
Visitation will be held on Saturday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. at Hippensteel Funeral Home with services there at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jason Morris officiating. Interment will follow at Tippecanoe Memory Gardens. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Care Coalition in Lafayette. Hippensteel Funeral Service entrusted with care.
