Lois Turner Dees, 59

Lois Turner Dees, 59, of Lexington, Ky., passed from this life to eternal life with Jesus Christ on September 20, 2013. Her faith became sight with her family around her at the St. Joseph Hospice Center in Lexington.

Lois was born September 6, 1954, in Lafayette, Ind. Lois was the daughter of the late Carl F. Lynch, Sr. and of Norma P. Smith Lynch and was a native of Boswell, Ind. She received bachelors and masters degrees in Education from Purdue University. She also graduated from Benton Central High School in Oxford, Ind.

At the time of her death, Lois taught junior high math at Lexington Christian Academy (LCA). She was a founding board member of The Academy, which merged with Lexington Christian School to form LCA. Lois was a beloved teacher at The Academy and LCA for 28 years. Previously, she taught at public schools in Fowler, Ind. and Lexington, Ky.

Lois married the late Dr. Larry Turner, a native of Rising Sun, Ind., on October 23, 1976. Lois and Larry were married for nearly 30 years until his death in the crash of Flight 5191 in Lexington on August 27, 2006. Lois and Larry lived in Lexington in 1978 before moving to Rising Sun to work with Turner Farms in 1980. Lois and Larry moved back to Lexington, where Larry obtained his Doctorate Degree in 1984 and where he later became an Associate Dean of Agriculture at the University of Kentucky.

Lois married Kerwin Dees of Siloam Springs, Ark., on June 1, 2012, in Lexington, Ky. Lois and Kerwin lived in Lexington and worked together at LCA where Kerwin served as Athletic Director during the 2013 school year. Lois worshipped faithfully at Southland Christian Church and lived a life devoted to God. She was a Charter Member of Christ United Methodist Church and St. Andrew's UMC, both in the Lexington area.

In addition to her husband, Kerwin, Lois is survived by her three children: daughter, Molly (Ken) Loyer of York, Pa.; daughter, Amy (Eric) Rogier of Atlanta, Ga.; and son, Clay Turner of Lexington, Ky. She is also survived by her mother, Norma P. Smith Lynch of Boswell, Ind.; her mother-in-law, Martha Turner of Rising Sun, Ind. and grandchild, Annie Loyer of York, Pa. Lois was a loving mother to Molly, Amy and Clay and a devoted grandmother to Annie.

Pallbearers will be Clay Turner, Wayne Turner, Donald Dimmich, Ed Hunter, Lyle Hunter, Sam Fox, Ryan Fox, and Adam Fox.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, September 24, 2013, at Southland Christian Church, Lexington, Ky., at 10 a.m. A graveside service will be held at Rising Sun Cemetery, Rising Sun, Ind., at 2:00 p.m. Visitation will be on Monday, September 23, 2013, also at Southland Christian Church from 5:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Lois Turner Dees Sponsorship Fund to provide tuition assistance for families and students with financial needs at Lexington Christian Academy, 450 Reynolds Road, Lexington, Ky. 40503.
