Maurice Richard Kirkham, 74

Fowler

Maurice Richard Kirkham, 74, of Fowler, Indiana died on Nov. 15, 2013. "Rick", son of Maurice and Iva (Nevitt) Kirkham, brother of the late Ivy Alice Burton and Margaret Stepp, and loving husband of the late Brenda Windler Kirkham lost his battle with lung disease and died at IU Arnett Hospital in Lafayette, Indiana.

He is survived by his three children, Greg (Jane), Paul & Krista (Craig) Beem and four grandchildren, Cory and Josh Kirkham and Marin and Quinn Beem.

Graduate of Fowler High School and Indiana State University, Rick served in the United States Air Force from 1961-1965. He was stationed in Texas, Idaho, South Dakota and Newfoundland. He married Brenda Windler in 1961 and began his teaching career teaching music in Whiting, Indiana. In Indiana he also taught at East Tipp, South Newton and Benton Central. He ended his career by teaching at Sam Sharpe Teacher's College in Montego Bay, Jamaica. He was the Former Commander of American Legion and the Former Commander of the VFW.

He will be greatly missed by family and friends. A Visitation is scheduled for Friday, November 22, at 9-11 am at Sacred Heart Church. A Funeral Mass will follow at 11 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Legion, or Sacred Heart School.
