David Wilson Obituary

David Lee Wilson

David Lee Wilson passed away on March 15th, 2014, in Scottsdale, AZ. He was born to Harlan & Helen Wilson in Lafayette, IN on November 26th, 1952, where he grew up with his older brother Steve.

Dave's never-ending work ethic and undying competitive nature lead him to be an All-State athlete in both basketball and baseball at Jefferson HS in northwestern Indiana.

His athletic career earned him multiple basketball and baseball scholarships, but as a native Hoosier, Dave chose to attend Indiana University where he graduated with a B.S. and was named Academic All-American two years running, as well as being awarded Big Ten Conference Honors. During his time at IU, Dave met his love and soon-to-be wife Dorothy and they would go on to have three loving children Kelly, Kyle and Courtney. And later, a grandson, Austin Lee.

While they built their family, Dave also built an extremely successful business career in leadership roles at Procter & Gamble and Acxiom Corporation and was considered a pioneer in the adoption of computer technology as a marketing tool.

Dave and his family moved to Arizona in the summer of 1999, where the ASU Sun Devils became his adopted University as he saw all three of his children graduate from the institution, where tailgating at football games with the family became one of his favorite pastimes.

Dave Wilson will be remembered how he lived: a fierce competitor, a lover of sports, and most importantly a friend to all he met.

I'm sorry for your loss. Dave, Steve and I were old neighborhood ball nuts of Central and S. 20th st. Steve and I were in the same class from Durgan all the way to Jeff. Dave and I played baseball together, I believe he was one of the freshmen who started my senior year. He was a good kid and I;m not surprised how successful he was in life and family. Again, sorry for your loss.

I was a neighbor to Dave and we grew up together, playing baseball and basketball. He was a good kid and I have thought of him and Steve often. Harlan and my father Charles were great friends during their retirement. May God bless.
