Ceasing from his labor, Fernie Lee Humphrey, 79, of Jacksonville went home to be with his savior on Thursday, March 20, 2014. There he joined his mother, Mary Jane Morton Humphrey and father, Eddie Thomas Humphrey.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, March 23 at Kellum Baptist Church with the Rev. Jody Yopp officiating – Interment will follow at the Humphrey Family Cemetery.
He leaves behind the loving wife of his youth, Helen Grace Mobley Humphrey. They would have celebrated sixty years of marriage on May 21, 2014. Along with their mother, he leaves his children, Sandra and Delwood Silence, Sheila and Jeff Waters, Sherry and Charles Morton. He considered his greatest pride and joy to be his grandchildren, Nick and Jaimie Waters, Airman Thaddeus Waters, Ollie and Ivy Morton, Mindy and Rachael Silence. In addition he was blessed with his great-grandchildren, Kayden, Kamryn and Kenley Waters. He also leaves a sister, Annie Tallman and her husband Nixon.
Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville.

Ms. Helen and family: Blake and I send our sincere condolences to all of you. Mr. Fernie was a very special man of God and I know you all will miss him so much!! Try to find comfort in knowing that he can't come back to you but you can go to him one day and until that day, live everyday with his sweet memories in your hearts!! You all will continue to be in our thoughts and prayers.
