Lee Sr. , David George
September 22, 1954 - May 21, 2016 Jacksonville, N.C.  David George Lee Sr, (61), patriarch, community leader, Gideonite, church deacon, best friend, voice of reason, devoted father, son, & grandfather, faithful servant, accomplished business man, loyal & loving husband, passed early Saturday morning as the new day's dawn broke, May 21st, 2016 around 1 a.m.  "Whenever you see a successful business, someone once made a courageous decision." ~ Peter Drucker David Lee Sr. was one of the hardest working men in his amazing local Jacksonville community, which he loved so very much. He was a tireless 2nd generation business owner in the tire and automotive industry with locally owned and operated used tire businesses, Southwest Tire of Jacksonville, and Wildcat Tire of Richlands. Born in Kinston, NC to Verdie Thigpen Lee and the late Cecil Lee, he was always connected to his roots passionate about his additional used tire business, Real Deal Tires of Kinston. Those businesses will continue flourishing and welcome local support, as they will be his business legacies. His name will live on, and the memories he created will always resonate in the hearts and minds of those who knew him and worked for him.  "Families are like branches on a tree, we grow in different directions yet our roots remain as one." ~ Unknown Not only was he passionate about his businesses and empowering his employees, he was extremely devoted to the lives of all of his children and grandchildren. The love story created over 34 years ago with his bride, Christine Genotti Lee, as he lovingly called her, will live on through many fond and humorous memories raising five spirited kids, carving new and constant paths, and falling in love with each other every single day. It was through strife that David's family became stronger and more vibrant. It was through love, that David's family constantly came together. It was through humor, that David helped to lead the Lee pack. A blended family, David taught all of his kids to take on new challenges, create your destiny, and follow Jesus. He believed in sheer work ethic, forging and growing partnerships, and an unwavering solace of comfort and reasoning. To his kids, he was Dad. To his wife, he was lover and best friend. To his grandchildren, he was Papa.  He is epically survived by his devoted wife of 34 years, Christine G. Lee (60) of Jacksonville, NC, their five very unique and outspoken children, 10 grandchildren, and his mother; Son - Les E. Howard (39) and his fiancé, Jody Gleeson with their son, Connor Howard and late daughter, Rose Charlotte Howard, of Mandurah, Western Australia; Son - David G. Lee Jr (39) with longtime girlfriend, Nicki Wells and his 3 children, Emilie Albert, Colby & Isaac Lee and her daughter, Marley Wells of Jacksonville, NC; Daughter - Renee Lee Sanders (38) of Jacksonville, NC with her 2 children, Jordan Kornegay and Nora Gibson; Daughter - Jennifer A. Lee Foss of Beautancus, NC.  "As you discover what strength you can draw from your community in this world from which it stands apart look outward as well as inward. Build bridges instead of walls." ~Chief Justice Sonia Satomayor  Additionally, David was a prominent member in his flourishing community supporting and coaching baseball teams, empowering young minds, and donating his remaining time and energies serving his God through the Gideons and Lighthouse Baptist Church as one of the founding members and guest preachers.  "The biggest adventure you can take is to live the life of your dreams." ~ Oprah Winfrey  He had a lifelong love affair with classic cars, car & gun shows, going out to eat with friends, long scenic drives, Disney vacations, Thanksgiving, Christmas, comedy movies with Sandler, Chevy, or John Candy, comedic sitcoms, snuggling with his wife, playing with his grandchildren, 60s-70s music, the TN mountains, laughing and reminiscing on the good old days with his 5 kids, a nice cold diet pepsi and some peanuts, a good steak that he would send back if it wasn't right, his church family, and of course his lord and savior. In the summers, you could catch him lounging after a long days work by his pool with friends, family, and some good tunes. At Christmas, his favorite season, he would be scoping out new Christmas decorations preferably a white Christmas tree, and re-enacting scenes from his favorite movie, Christmas Vacation. He was an unforgettable man and his legacy will live on through his family.  Every single week, David tithed to Lighthouse Baptist Church of Jacksonville, NC. Flowers are welcome or memorials can be made to the Lighthouse Baptist Church Building Fund, 2531 Burgaw Hwy., Jacksonville, NC 28540.
