Mr. William Albert Whaley, age 67, of Richlands, died Aug. 25, 2015, at New Hanover County Regional Medical Center. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 27 at Jones Funeral Home, Richlands. Funeral service will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Richlands with Rev. Lynn Maxwell officiating. Burial will follow at Frazelle Family Cemetery. Survivors include his wife, Linda Provow Whaley of the home; brother, James Whaley and his wife Sherry of Richlands; nieces, Lisa Spence of Wake Forest and Jenny Corbett of Sims, NC; nephews, Chad Whaley of Richlands, Gene Bell Jr. of Gastonia, Mack Bell of Wake Forest; 11 great-nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, John Thurman Whaley and Marie Frazelle Whaley; and sister, Virginia Crook. Wimmer, Newton  
JACKSONVILLE | Newton Preston Wimmer, born September 23, 1928, in Copper Hill, VA, passed away Monday, August 24, 2015 at Premier Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 26 at Jones Funeral Home, Jacksonville Chapel. Burial will be held privately in Bent Mountain, VA. Mr. Wimmer served as a deacon, choir member, Sunday School teacher and Training Union worker for many years in the Baptist churches. He was also an Elder in the Presbyterian church. He was a master craftsman, responsible for the brick work of many homes and business in both Virginia and North Carolina. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him. He leaves behind his wife of 65 years, Laura Simpson Wimmer of the home; his three daughters, Rebecca Wimmer White of Wendell, Kaphie Wimmer Skinner of Wilson and Shelia Wimmer Vatcher of Jacksonville; two sons-in-law; his brother, Colonel Wimmer of Copper Hill, VA; six grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Brookwood Baptist Church, 903 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville, NC 28540. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Wednesday morning, prior to the service, at the funeral home. Electronic condolences may be left for the family at Jonesfh.org.
