Potts, Kenneth  
Kenneth G. Potts, 76, of Sneads Ferry, NC passed away on Friday, June 17, 2016, at home. He was born on April 27, 1940, in Trenton, NJ to the late, Arthur and Ruth Potts. Ken is survived by his wife of 46 years, Harriet; three children, Laura Wilmott, Paul Merbedone (Linda), and Edward Merbedone; seven grandchildren, Thomas, Emily, Kelsy, Seana, Rachael, and Samantha; one great-grandchild, Brandon; brother, Donald Potts (Linda); two nieces, Virginia and Kate; two great-nieces McKenzie and Aliana; two great-nephews, Connor and Liam, and Emily the bird. Ken was a lifelong resident of Somerset County, NJ and retired from Raritan Valley Community College in 2003. He and Harriet retired to Sneads Ferry, NC where he was a board member of the New River Plantation Homeowner's Association. A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, June 22 at Andrews Mortuary Hampstead Chapel where funeral services will be held the following day at 11 a.m. Thursday. Quinn, Martha  
Martha Lucille Quinn, of Potters Hill, NC, age 87, died peacefully in her home on June 20th, 2016, surrounded by loved ones. She was born to parents, Dexter Jerry and Mary C. Brown on June 27, 1928 in Onslow County. Martha was filled with love and compassion for others, and would boldly share the gospel with anyone. She was the last surviving founding member of the New River Holiness Church. Everywhere she went she was most recognized by her stylish fashion sense and the many hats she would wear. She was devoted to caring for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, no matter their age. She enjoyed family gatherings, which included the love of song and praise, and always encouraged everyone to join in. She was a humanitarian and good neighbor, who loved helping others, and raising money for those less fortunate than herself. Martha enjoyed travelling and was an avid gardener and cook. She lived life to the fullest with a heart full of love. Martha was preceded in death by husband, Rodolph Quinn; brother, Dexter Lee Brown; and sister, Queenie Isabelle Turner. She is survived by her brother, Delmas J. Brown; twin sister, Mary H. Hewitt, sisters, Nina M. Clark, Evelyn Maxine Smith, Vergia Ann Brown Carter. She is also survived by her seven children; son, Eddie C. Quinn; daughter, Linda and husband Rusty Merritt; daughter, Mary Elizabeth and husband Bobby Cottle; daughter, Dianne and husband Donnie Gates; daughter, Katie Harrell and husband Grady Mercer Jr.; daughter, Kimberly and husband Anthony Ramsey; daughter, Kelly and husband Rev. Jerry D. Andrews. She was blessed with 16 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Community Funeral Home in Beulaville. The celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 23rd at Community Funeral Home followed by graveside service at Bostic Cemetery, Potters Hill Loop Rd., in the Potter's Hill community.

Rebecca Gail Jordan Reeves, 66, passed away Monday June 20, 2016, at the Crystal Coast Hospice House in Newport. Becky was born March 25, 1950, in Mobile, AL daughter of the late Harold and Hazel Carney Jordan. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday night, June 23 at Jones Funeral Home of Swansboro. A private family burial will be held at a later time. She is survived by husband, Larry A. Reeves of the home; son, Matthew Reeves (Michelle) of Ft. Collins, CO; daughter, Rachel Reeves of Swansboro; grandsons, Jackson Arthur Reeves and Samuel Kuhl Reeves. She is also survived by two sisters, Deborah Jordan and Regina Jordan. She was preceded in death by two brothers, David and Harold Jordan. JACKSONVILLE | Betty Jane Reece Shepard, daughter of the late William C. and Hazel Rhodes Reece, departed this life on Tuesday, June 21, 2016, at UNC-CH Hospital. She is survived by her husband, Gary Shepard; her daughter, Stephanie Shepard Munoz; her son, Matthew Shepard; and her granddaughter, Elizabeth Munoz, all of Jacksonville. She is also survived by her aunt, Daisy Rhodes Burns; her brother, Bill Reece, and his wife, Maggie; her sister, Jo Flowers and her husband, Bill; her sister-in-law, Mary Benson; brother and sister-in-law, Terry and Peggy Shepard; nieces and nephews, Anna Barber, Sheryl and Larry Hicks, Brad and Melinda Shepard, Tiffany R. Forsythe, David and Lauren Reece, William A. and Ashley Flowers, Jassmine and Daniel Snyder, Holly and DJ Griffin, Aidan Shepard, Cate Shepard, Wyatt Forsythe, Kory Griffin, and Brayden Reece. She is also survived by many dear cousins and her extended church family at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church. Betty was beloved by her family and friends as a kind, gracious, loving, talented, and faithful woman and her presence in our lives will be missed. Proverbs 31:28 says "Her children rise up and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praiseth her" while Isaiah 49:13 says, "Sing, oh heavens; and be joyful, O earth; and break forth into singing, O mountains; for the Lord hath comforted his people, and will have mercy upon his afflicted."
