RICHLANDS | Edward Walter "E.W." Barbee, 79, of Richlands died May 26, 2015, at his residence. Funeral will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at First Christian Church, Richlands with the Rev. Gary Edens officiating. Burial held at 11 a.m. Friday at Barbee family cemetery. He was a member of First Christian Church, Richlands. Survivors include his wife, Sandra Barbee; sons, Edward Allen Barbee, Rusty Warren Taylor; daughter, Karen Barbee Bristow, all of Richlands; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Mary Elizabeth Collins, age 87, of Jacksonville, passed away Monday, May 25, 2015, at Harbour View Health Center, Morehead City. Funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday, May 28 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Swansboro with Pastor Nelson Hopkins officiating, burial will follow at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends Thursday, one hour prior to service from noon to 1 p.m. at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro. Mrs. Collins is survived by two daughters, Linda Gail Collins Dragone of Montgomery, TX., Patricia ""Pat"" Collins Mizesko of Emerald Isle; a son, Kenneth G. ""Buddy"" Collins of Willis, TX; sister, Faye Forster of Nashville, Tenn.; five grandsons and four great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kermit Gordan Collins; her parents, Letha C. Capps and Laura Matthews Capps; two sisters, Maxine Gurganus, Doris Hood; and one brother, Darel Capps. WILLISTON | Duke Stephen Daugherty, 51, of Williston died May 26, 2015, at his home. Memorial will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 30 at One Harbor Church, Morehead City, with the Rev. Bryan Hart officiating. He worked for Luther L. Smith & Sons Seafood and was employed at Fleet Readiness Center East at MCAS Cherry Point. Survivors include his wife, Ronnie Boston Daugherty; mother, Annis Daugherty of Sea Level; sister, Teresa Daugherty of Beaufort; stepmother, Catherine Daugherty; sister, Vanessa Daugherty; and brother, Osborne Harvey, all of Atlantic. Burial with military honors will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. He was an information security officer. RICHLANDS | James Luther Heath, 54, of Richlands died May 24, 2015 at Vidant Medical Hospital in Greenville. Services will be held at 2 p.m. Friday at Greater Vision Ministries, Richlands with the Rev. David Jarman officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Survivors include brothers, Jessie Heath of Comfort, Timmy Heath of Richlands; sister, Annie Marie Williams of Jacksonville. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at the church and at other times at 106 McCackney Drive, Richlands. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Jones Funeral Home. SWANSBORO, NC | Sarah Spaugh Reeves Jones passed away on Monday, May 18, 2015 at Carteret General Hospital, Morehead City, North Carolina. She was born April 18, 1952 to Thomas Long Reeves and Jean Holdridge Reeves of Pittsboro, NC. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, June 6 at the Pittsboro United Methodist Church, 71 West Street, PO Box 716, Pittsboro, NC 27312. The family will receive friends following the service. Son, Thomas Newton Jones of the home survives as do her mother, Jean Reeves of Pittsboro, NC; sisters, Kay Reeves Skalchunes of Clemmons, NC, Melissa Reeves Raley (Michael) of Raleigh, NC, Ann Reeves Larsen (Jørn) of Durham, NC.; seven nieces and nephews; and six great-nieces and nephews. In 1974, Sarah earned a Child Development/Family Relations degree and Early Childhood Teaching Certification from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro. She retired after thirty years teaching young children in Onslow County Schools. Friends and family remember her love of children, reading, knitting, and quilting. Maloy, Bernice  
Bernice Maloy, 92, of Emerald Isle, NC, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015 in Lexington, KY. She was born December 25, 1922 to the late Ollie V. Yoder and Opal Marie Yoder in Middlebury, IN. Bernice was a nurse in Southgate, MI for many years. She enjoyed golfing, flower gardening, cooking, baking cookies for everyone, and shelling at the beach. She was a member of Chapel by the Sea in Emerald Isle, NC and supported her community. Bernice is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Hughbanks of Lexington, KY; two grandchildren and spouses, John and Carrie Hughbanks of Dothan, AL., James and Monica Hughbanks of Lexington, KY; four great-grandchildren, Natalina Hughbanks, Veronika Hughbanks, Kiley Hughbanks and Maddox Hughbanks of Lexington, KY; sister-in-law Molly Yoder of Sharpsburg, NC; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Lt. Col. John Henry Maloy; three brothers, Ray E. Yoder, Jay O. Yoder, Ernie L. Yoder; and sister, Pauline Musser. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, May 29th at Jones Funeral Home, Swansboro and from 1 to 1:45 p.m. Saturday, May 30th at Chapel by the Sea, Emerald Isle. Mangum, Nancy  
Nancy Nicholson Mangum, 68, of Wilmington passed away on Thursday, May 21, 2015. She was born on Christmas Day 1946 in Wilmington, NC to the late James and Ruth Haywood Nicholson of Jacksonville, NC. Nancy is also preceded in death by a grandson George Chesnutt. Nancy is survived by her husband, of 49 years, Billy Mangum; children Marvin Mangum (Liz Hamilton) of Henderson, NV, Tracey Mangum Chesnutt (Warren) of Cedar Point, NC and James Mangum of Biloxi, MS; grandchildren Tripp Chesnutt, Claire Chesnutt and Kelly Mangum; step-grandchildren Jack and Kate Hamilton; Lillian Dawson (Abner) and James Nicholson (Twyla) and three nieces. Nancy graduated from Jacksonville High School class of 1965. She married her high school sweetheart, Billy, that same year. Nancy was an avid tennis player and mahjong enthusiast. She was loved by all and always had a kind word to share about others. But above all, family was Nancy's greatest passion and she will be deeply missed by all those she leaves behind. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 at Andrews Mortuary Market Street Chapel. Burial will follow at Oleander Memorial Gardens. Maroules, Evelyn  
Evelyn Banks Maroules, 82, passed away peacefully at her home on Friday, May 22, 2015. She is preceded in death by her parents, Amos June Banks and Mary Silance Banks and husband, Ed Maroules of 56 years, and her brother, Amos Elwood Banks and his wife Margie. Evelyn was the President of the Shrinettes in 1984 and was a member of Eastern Star. She owned Evelyn's Beauty Shop where she worked as a hair stylist for 40 years, after her retirement in 2002 she and Ed retired to Swansboro, where they enjoyed the beach, fishing, family and the many friends they made there. Survivors include her daughter, Connie Maroules Snow and husband Ken of Washington; sons Edward Speros Maroules and wife Marie of Kinston, George Michael Maroules of Swansboro; sisters, Lois B. Johnson, Lucille B. Tyndall and Lillie B. King, all of Swansboro, Brenda Banks Smith and husband Ray of Comfort; brother, Horace Sutton Banks of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Edward S. Maroules, III (Trey) of New Bern, Michael B. Maroules of Las Vegas, Nevada, Elizabeth M. DeGiosio and husband Bob of Greenville, Zachary Michael Maroules of Swansboro; great-grandson, Miles Edward DeGiosio. As well as her special dog, Buddy, who was always by her side. The family would like to say a special thank you to past care givers, Martha Marks, Katherine Casey and Denise Densmore, and a special thank you to Debra Davis and Faye McNair. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, May 26, 2015 at Tuckahoe Christian Church, 6212 NC HWY 41 West, Trenton, with Rev. Roger Noble officiating. A private burial will follow the service at Pinelawn Memorial Park. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
