1st Sgt. Anton Frank Fickey Sr. USMC Retired, 84, of Hubert died Friday, April 11, 2014, at Carolina Rivers Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Mr. Fickey attended the St. Mildred's Catholic. He served in the Marine Corps for 20-plus years. While in the service, he received three Purple Hearts.
Mr. Fickey served during the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring, he worked with the Boy Scouts for 25 years and was a member of the VFW Post 9960.
A graveside service will be Tuesday, April 15, 2014, at 2 p.m. at Onslow Memorial Park with Sheriff Ed Brown officiating. There also will be military honors for 1st Sgt. Anton Frank Fickey Sr.
He is survived by his son, Anton Fickey Jr. (Carmen) of Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Frederica "Dolly" Ramires (Lilo) of Hubert; and grandchildren, Shiann Ramires, Christopher and Frankie Fickey.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. at Johnson Funeral Home, Jacksonville on Monday, April 14, 2014.
