Audrey Hill

On Wednesday, Feb. 19, 2014, Audrey Keane Hill, nee Kiesewetter, died peacefully at the age of 87 in her home in Sneads Ferry.
She was a devoted wife to Opera Tenor and Restaurateur, Orrin J. Hill (deceased in 1997) and loving mother to David Hill, Orrin Hill, Anthony Hill and Anna McBain. Grandmother of Greg, Larry, Laura, Roger and Ian. Great-grandmother of Myelle, Mila, Zoey, Jack, Nicholas and Tristan. Affectionate mother-in-law to Annette Hill and Chris McBain. She was a ballet dancer from the age of five and began a successful professional dancing career with Mia Slovenska's ballet troupe in the early 1940s. She studied both at home and overseas and trained with Konstantinoff. She performed on many stages across the USA, Canada, and Europe. She had her own ballet company for a period and taught at Adelphi and Julliard. In 1946, she joined the company at the Metropolitan Opera and became Ballet Mistress for the Met in 1963, retiring as Ballet Administrator in 1979. After leaving the Met, Audrey and her husband opened the Saratoga Restaurant in Sneads Ferry. After closing the restaurant in 1997, she learned to drive and continued many travels near and far with family and dear friends.
