Lt. Col. Carlton T. Marsh, U.S.A.F. retired, 87, of Jacksonville went to be with his Lord Friday, March 14, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his loving family.
He was a member of the First Christian Church, Richlands, where he served on the church board and as a trustee. Carlton was a well known inventor and entrepreneur. He served in the U.S.A.F. for 23-plus years. He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Lois Marsh; his first wife, Helen W. Marsh; son, Carlton T. Marsh Jr.
A funeral service will be held Monday, March 17, 2014, at 11 a.m. at First Christian Church, Richlands with Dr. Gary Edens officiating. Burial will follow at 3 p.m. at the Gethsemane Memorial Park in Morehead City with military honors.
He is survived by his wife, Faye Huffman Mercer Marsh; son, John David Marsh of Newport, N.C.; stepson, Joseph S. Mercer (Lorri) of Asheville, N.C.; daughter, Carol Marsh of Moncks Corner, S.C.; stepdaughters, Pamela McCandless (Paul) of Jacksonville, N.C. and Joan Bostic of Jacksonville, N.C.; sisters, Shirley Temples of Slidell, La. and Dorothy Halsey (John) of Raleigh; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.
The family will receive friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Sunday, March 16, 2014 at First Christian Church, Richlands.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the First Christian Church, Richlands or the Wounded Warriors Project.
