Donald Hogan

Donald Evins Hogan, 86, of Richlands, passed away May 26, 2014, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
Donald served three years in the United States Army during the occupation of Japan. Afterwards he attended the ABAC Junior College, University of Georgia, and the School of Photography in New York City, leading to his career as a photographer for 40 years. He attended Richlands Community Christian Church, and was also a member of the Richlands Masonic Lodge #564, the Jacksonville Chapter 327 Order of the Eastern Star, and was a member of the Moose lodge.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles Selman Hogan and Lillie Yeakey; a brother, Charles Hogan Jr.; and sisters, Virginia Parrish and Grace Callaway.
He is survived by his wife, Carmen of the home; sons, Philip Hogan of Bedford, Va., Duane Hogan of Castle Hayne, and Dana Hogan of Cary; daughter, Donna Alise "Lisie" Stephenson of Carolina Beach; stepchildren, LaVern Phillips Jr., Connie Rayner, Sharon St. John, Victoria Vandermark, and Marylin Creadle; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
A graveside service for Donald will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, May 29 at the Whaley Family Cemetery on Whaley Dr. across from the Community Christian Church in Richlands with pastor Daniel Davenport officiating. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday at Johnson Funeral Home of Richlands.
