Hubert Scott

EMERALD ISLE - HUBERT LISTON SCOTT, 84, passed away at the Hospice House in Newport, surrounded by his loving family on Nov. 26th, 2013. Hubert is formerly from Garner. He was born in Mullis, S.C., on June 30th, 1929, to the late Bennie and Mamie Scott.

Hubert is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Willa Dean Scott; his loving daughter, Shirley Scott Stanley and her husband Mike Stanley of Emerald Isle; and his son, Johnny Scott and wife Sherri Scott of Garner. Hubert has six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; a surviving sister, Voncil Cooper; surviving brother, James Scott; and special family, Bob and Grace Barefoot.

After many years as a heavy equipment operator and master cabinet maker, Hubert retired to his beloved Emerald Isle where he enjoyed home improvement construction, fishing, and the company of his countless friends.

The family will receive visitors, starting at 10:15 a.m., 45 minutes prior to the 11 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 30th Mass at St. Mildred's Catholic Church of Swansboro, of which Hubert was an active member. Burial will immediately follow the Mass at Gethsemane Memorial Gardens in Newport.

Memorials may be made to Hospice House of Newport or St. Mildred's Building Fund, Swansboro.
