Janet (Jan) "Tootsie" Knox Dudek, passed away on Aug. 18, 2013, at CarolinaEast Medical Center in New Bern, with her family by her side.
Jan was born in Hancock, Mich., on Feb. 28, 1944, the daughter of the late Raymond and Violet Carlson Harris. Jan was employed as a financial manager at the Officer's Club at Hickam and Langley Air Force bases, at Farm Fresh retail stores and retired from her supervisory position at Lowes. Jan was totally committed to the Lord and her family. She loved animals and working in her garden.
Jan is survived by her husband, Jack Dudek; son, Terry (Teresa) Knox II; daughter, Kimberly Knox Gresham; stepson, John (Caroline) Dudek; stepdaughter, Lynette (Terry) Thomas; 10 grandchildren; five sisters, Audrey (George) Mazzagotte, Maxine (Tony) Barraco, Linda (Steve) Johnson, June (Bob) Gemignani, Cathy (Dan) Skorich; several nieces and nephews; and numerous friends. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Robert, Raymond, Albert, Roy; and sisters, Mona, Violet, and Sheron.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20 at Johnson Funeral Chapel, 2685 Henderson Drive, Jacksonville. Funeral services are scheduled for 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.
Expressions of sympathy in honor of Jan may be made to the local Salvation Army at 535 Bell Fork Road in Jacksonville.
