Jerreld Pippin

Jerreld D. "Jerry" Pippin, 73, of Jacksonville passed away Sunday, March 10, 2013, at his home.

Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, March 15 at Jones Funeral Home Chapel, Jacksonville, with the Rev. Eddie Phenix officiating. Burial will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery with military honors. The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Mr. Pippin was born July 29, 1939, in Water Valley, Miss., to Judge and Chettie Pippin.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 35 years, Sandra Clark Pippin; his parents; and brothers, Gene Pippin and Ralph Pippin.

He is survived by his daughter, Jannette Pippin of Morehead City; his son, Stewart Pippin of Jacksonville; sister-in-law, Iva Pippin of Knoxville, Tenn.; brothers, James Pippin of Powell, Tenn.; Carl Pippin (Martha) of Chickamauga, Ga.; sisters, Jetta Russell of Orlando, Fla.; Jessie Keller (Wayne) of Everett, Wash., and Linda Kidd (Randy) of Pachuta, Miss.; and three grandchildren, Madison, Preston and Reagan Pippin; and 17 nieces and nephews.

Mr. Pippin retired from the Marine Corps after 22 years of service and was a proud grandfather and avid golfer.
