MAPLE HILL - John Sherman Rowland Jr., 60, of Maple Hill, died Jan. 5, 2013, at his residence.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 9 at Johnson Funeral Home, Jacksonville with Chaplain Paula Bradley officiating. Burial will follow at Coston Davis family cemetery.

He was a member of the GWRRA Chapter F and the VFW.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Davis Rowland; sons, John Sherman Rowland III, of Lynchburg, Va., and Donald Smith of Maple Hill; daughters, Amy Rowland of Lynchburg, Va. and Jennifer Andrews of Mebane; mother, Mildred McMillen Rowland of Springfield, Ohio; brothers, Neville Rowland of Texas, David Rowland and Bruce Rowland, both of Springfield, Ohio, and Billy Stafford of Columbus, Ohio; sisters, Brenda Fultz of Springfield, Ohio, Audrey Oost of Michias, Maine, Cindy Schneider of Columbus, Ohio, Debra Stafford of Nevada; and seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
