Louis Thomas Salefsky, 85, of Jacksonville died Dec. 30, 2013, at Onslow Memorial Hospital.
Services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 3rd at Jones Funeral Home in Jacksonville. Interment with military honors will follow at Coastal Carolina State Veterans Cemetery. He retired as a gunnery sergeant serving 26 years in the U.S. Marine Corps. He was a Purple Heart recipient related to his bravery and service at the Chosin Reservoir during the Korean War.
Survivors include his devoted wife of 62 years, Jane P. Salefsky; son, Larry Thomas Salefsky and wife Karen Salefsky of Jacksonville; daughters, Robin Bright and husband Jack Bright of Hubert, Kelly Nelson and husband Paul Nelson of Jacksonville; sister, Caroline Westowski of Jacksonville; six grandchildren, Corinne Salefsky Edwards and husband Wingate Edwards of Wilmington, Tara Hall and husband James Hall of North Plains, Ore., Larry Salefsky II of Myrtle Beach, S.C., Amanda Nelson of Jacksonville, Katie Nelson of Jacksonville, Morgan Bright of Hubert; and three great-grandchildren, Claire Ilene Hall, Walt Anthony Edwards, and Nathan Timothy Willis.
He was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. His memory and his love will live on forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service. Reception to follow at the Salefsky's residence: 113 Tweed Drive in Jacksonville.
